Badger Mountain

Karen and I have decided to tackle Badger Mountain this year. At almost a mile it provides us with a pretty good workout. Our son, Ben, likes to run the trail all the way to the top, I’ve tried a couple times but for some reason my lungs won’t allow me to make it very far, enough said on that topic.

Badger Mountain’s summit view of the Columbia Basin is amazing. I can’t believe I never experienced it as a kid growing up in Richland, but then again, Badger Mtn. was miles away back then. Upon reaching the top I take in the full scope of the landscape. The area of West Pasco is in full view to the North East and I stop to pray. I pray for the community, it’s residents, it’s businesses and it’s leaders. Then I can’t help but stop to pray, “How will You use me to reach the unchurched in West Pasco?” God is directing us, the people of Bethel, to a great opportunity to reach into the lives of people in this new area. Have you prayed and asked God, “How will You use Me?”

I’d love to hear from you. Email me at tim.phillips@bethel-church.org or click on the title above to leave a comment. In the mean time take a walk, a hike, a run, a second and pray!

Foot Prints

There is an awful lot of sand in West Pasco, but don’t worry, we’ll actually be on the sidewalk.

We will meet Saturday, May 17th at 5 PM in the parking lot near the soccer fields/baseball stadium on Burden Blvd. in West Paso.

Prepare for the warm day and bring a water bottle! We’ll have maps and some prayer items to get you started on the right foot. I’ll be wearing a hat for sure (no comments please!).

Here’s the news we’ve been waiting for…after a lot of searching…a result of much praying: Fairchild Cinemas will be the home of Bethel’s West Pasco campus!

Unorthodox? Weird? Buttered Popcorn? Not at all. It is truly a blessing from God. He has placed us in the heart of the new West Pasco area in an environment familiar to the community – a movie theater. We are currently in the process of working out the details with the owner, Jeff Fairchild.

Hit the road Jack, Mary, Dave, Emily, Dave…or whatever name you go by!

We are hitting the streets of West Pasco…to pray. Currently, there are no churches in the new West Pasco area. What was once open fields for farming has now become an open field for a harvest for God. The Apostle Paul asked the Colossians to pray “that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ”. Now is the time, even before we load in our first piece of equipment, to pray that God would open doors and that we may proclaim Jesus Christ clearly.

Lace on your shoes and fill up your water bottle on Saturday, May 17th at 5PM to join in walking and praying through a neighborhood in West Pasco.

Meet in the parking lot near the soccer fields/baseball stadium on Burden Blvd. in West Paso.

The opening of the West Pasco Campus is set for the end of June and planning is in high gear! People are already plugging in to ministry teams. Some of these teams include:
• Children’s Ministry,
• Media & Technology,
• Facility,
• Hosting,
• Hospitality & Ushers,
• Small Groups,
• Ceative Arts,
• Worship, and
• Prayer.
Often we think of this Pasco venture as strictly reaching the unchurched. But that is only half of it. Another benefit is that it provides new growth opportunities for you. If you plan to be a part of the Bethel body in Pasco, ask God now how He wants you to serve. To sign up, simply email me (Tim Phillips) and indicate where you would like to serve.
